SJ Masiello is a self-published author and entrepreneur who graduated from Rhode Island College with a BA in Psychology. While attending RIC, she also studied Elementary Education and Fine Arts. Before graduation, she made the last minute decision to focus on becoming an entrepreneur instead of an Elementary School teacher. Although risky, she knew she had to take the chance and follow the direction that her heart was leading her in.
To The Pointe of Performing Arts Inc opened its door in 1999. Twenty six years later, it is still going strong, offering dance classes to three different communities in R.I.; Cranston, Coventry, and Smithfield.
SJ uses her education, as well as, her dance studio business experiences to guide, mentor, and motivate individuals to be their best selves through hard work, perseverance, and positive self- concept. It has been her life's mission to build confidence in the individuals that surround her.
She truly believes that "female empowerment" is not a gift that is given to woman. On the contrary, SJ believes that it is a state of mind. The feeling of empowerment is the understanding that women can do anything. With hard work, dedication, purposeful intention, confidence, and perseverance, woman can push themselves to their best potential.
SJ has added a new platform to further the lessons of empowerment to others. Becoming an author was yet another dream that SJ worked hard to achieve. She became passionate about Turkish culture and history and choose that for the setting of her first novel.
This journey began in 2019. Since then, she has published the first book of the series, will soon release the second, has learned how to speak Turkish, and is an ambassador for Turkish culture in the United States and abroad by continuing to spread the knowledge and appreciation for Turkish culture, history, and cuisine, her most favorite aspect.
Even within The Sultana Series, SJ explores the theme that women should not be limited to be what others expect them to be. Furthermore, they are not restricted to only one dream. They are multi-faceted and multi-talented individuals who can do anything they put their minds to and those options are limitless.
SJ creates a positive atmosphere in all the work that she does. She continues to strive to do her best work and looks forward to expanding her writing career by exploring other genres. Most of all, she enjoys the journey along the way and stays present in the moment while planning for her future.
SJ enjoys living in a beautiful sea-side town in Rhode Island and shares her dreams with her husband, three sons, and a dog named Romeo. When she is not writing, she can be found teaching dance, traveling, cooking, baking, gardening, watching her favorite Turkish series, painting, or dreaming about what's next for her as she moves forward through this journey of life. |
